The Celestron Dew Shield DX for C6 & C8 Optical Tubes safeguards your optical tube during field observations. Its primary function is to prevent excess moisture from condensing on the corrector lens, preventing potential damage.

Additionally, the dew shield acts as a barrier against stray light. Specifically designed for 6 and 8 Schmidt-Cassegrain, EdgeHD, and RASA optical tubes, this shield offers reliable protection.

The Celestron Dew Shield DX boasts a tailored fit for Celestron’s 6 and 8” optical tubes, offering optimal coverage and protection. Constructed from durable PE plastic, the shield combines flexibility with strength, providing long-lasting durability. Extra padding along the tube attachment edge minimizes the risk of slippage or detachment. The interior is lined with felt to absorb stray light and excess moisture. Furthermore, the large dovetail cutout accommodates 4” wide dovetail rails, ensuring a stable connection to the optical tube.

Installing the Dew Shield DX onto your optical tube is a straightforward process, thanks to the Velcro attachment points. Whether you’re using a 6 or 8” optical tube, adjusting the Velcro ensures a customized and secure fit. For added convenience during transportation and storage, the dew shield can be rolled up, saving space while ensuring easy portability.

SETUP OF THE CELESTRON DEW SHIELD Dx FOR C6 & C8 OPTICAL TUBES

  • Position your telescope tube securely in an upright stance within your preferred mount.
  • Unwrap the Dew Shield from its clear plastic packaging and ensure that the 4″ wide notch aligns with the dovetail rail on your telescope tube.
  • Ensure that the padded edge makes contact with the telescope tube.
  • With one hand, hold the Dew Shield firmly against the telescope tube while using the other hand to wrap it around the tube.
  • Align the Velcro strips as the ends of the Dew Shield meet. Press the strips firmly together to secure the Dew Shield in place.
  • Verify that the Dew Shield is securely attached and aligned straight on the telescope tube. Make adjustments as needed.

To pack and store after use:

  • Starting from the end opposite the Celestron logo, tightly roll up the Dew Shield.
  • Upon completing the rolling process, ensure that the Velcro strip located under the logo aligns with another strip on the Dew Shield’s surface.
  • Press the Velcro strips firmly together to firmly secure the Dew Shield for transportation.
