Double Link Handcuffs
Police use Double Link Handcuffs as restraint devices to secure an individual’s wrists in proximity to each other after arresting or detaining them. They comprise two parts, linked together by a chain, a hinge, or rigid bar. A rotating arm on each half engages with a ratchet. The handcuffs cannot be removed without the key. The handcuffed person cannot move his or her wrists more than a few centimetres or inches apart. This makes many tasks difficult or impossible. Worldwide, police frequently use them to prevent suspected criminals from escaping from police custody.
