Description

Achieve a professional-grade finish and improved feeding reliability with the Lee Taper Crimp Die for 9mm Luger, .38 Super, .38 ACP, and .380 Auto. Built from hardened steel, this die is engineered to solve common crimping problems that arise from poorly designed dies—ensuring your reloads are both safe and consistent.

The taper crimp is especially beneficial for semi-automatic cartridges that headspace on the case mouth, like 9mm and its variants. A proper taper crimp helps maintain bullet alignment and seating depth, improves cycling in semi-auto firearms, and prevents bullet setback during feeding. The Lee Taper Crimp Die ensures a clean, uniform crimp without distorting or damaging the case.

This die is particularly useful when working with older die sets or non-Lee dies. However, if you’re already using Lee dies manufactured in 1986 or later, you may find limited advantage, as these already feature a modified taper crimp built into the seating die. Still, the separate taper crimp die allows for greater control and precision, especially in multi-stage reloading setups.

Note: Jacketed bullets must have a crimp groove when using this die to avoid bullet deformation.

  • Made from hardened steel for long-lasting durability

  • Ideal for solving crimp issues with non-Lee or older die sets

  • Provides a smooth and consistent taper crimp

  • Designed for use with 9mm Luger, .38 Super, .38 ACP, and .380 Auto cartridges

Whether you’re reloading for range shooting, competition, or everyday carry, the Lee Taper Crimp Die is a valuable tool to help you produce reliable, high-quality ammunition. It’s a must-have for reloaders who want to take greater control over the crimping process and improve their overall cartridge performance.

Lee Precision

The Lee reloading business started in Richard Lee's home workshop in 1958 with the creation of the renowned Lee Loader for shotgun shells. By the early sixties, loaders for rifle and pistol ammunition were introduced, bringing over one and a half million shooters into the world of reloading with their cost-effective and efficient tools. Each Lee product is initially unique. Lee's innovations include dies, presses, crimpers, powder measures, priming tools, scales, bullet molds, melters, sizers, lubricants, turrets, trimmers. Their various accessories all set industry standards. Their products undergo a strict three-question test: Does it meet a real need or surpass other available products? Can it be produced affordably? Would I personally buy one? Only products that answer "yes" to all three questions are introduced to the market. Lee products come with exceptional guarantees. Customers can receive a full refund within 30 days if not completely satisfied. Their dies are guaranteed to produce ammunition with less bullet run-out than any other brand. Ammunition loaded with their collet dies is guaranteed to achieve the smallest groups, even compared to custom bench rest equipment. For sixty years, Lee Precision has been serving reloaders worldwide. They remain 100% family-owned.
